TRIP DETAILS

Peru-Equine Clinics
August 21-September 5, 2010

THIS TRIP IS FULL FOR ALL POSITIONS.
NO ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

A limited number of U.S. veterinary students will be selected to participate in this trip.

All applicants for this trip should plan to be in very good to excellent physical condition; we will be working hard at 12,000 to 15,000 feet elevation in the Andes Mountains and hikes over difficult terrain of up to 8 hours may be necessary.

Applicants should be currently working, or planning to work, predominantly with horses professionally. Basic riding ability is recommended, as is experience working with mules. Strong preference will be given to applicants with proficiency in speaking and understanding Spanish.

All food, lodging and transportation costs will be the responsibility of the volunteer.  Costs will be between $1,000 and $2,000.  Actual cost will depend mainly on air fare from North America at the time and on the specific departure airport.  All participants will be required to be on the same flight into Lima with NO exceptions for frequent flier mileage programs, going down early to travel, or the like. Some exception may be made to this to account for participants from the east coast, or for other reasons, but logistics of clearing customs demand that most participants be on the same flight. Participants will be limited to one piece of check-through luggage of 50 lbs. There are no requirements for the return flight, except that early returns before the scheduled end of the trip will not be possible.

Correspondence regarding international trips should be directed to Dr. Susan Monger (smonger@ravsmail.org)
